A Learning Experience
Problem: Linn Benton Lincoln Education Service District (LBL) needed a change. Thirty-five Oregon school districts count on LBL to provide technology services. LBL's technology was way behind the times. They had a sound program running their data but a poor user interface - remember the old "green screen" style?
So the search began. LBL was dismayed by the price tag for off-the-shelf school administration software...and the software wasn't nearly as powerful. That's when they decided to get an expert involved. LBL called Marquam Group to design a custom solution.
Solution: The Marquam Group team kept LBL's core programming and then developed a custom, web-based application for the interface. To demonstrate how the system would work, Marquam Group first designed a "pilot" application. Through this pilot application, the Marquam Group team was able to confirm the following advantages of the custom solution: uninterrupted service, enhanced functionality, ease of implementation, and a lower cost. The new approach gave powerful program with a modern interface. And best of all, LBL enjoyed a number of added features and the entire system cost only cost a third of what LBL would have paid for off-the-shelf school management software.
